About Our Workshops
We invite professional composers to design a workshop in your area of expertise that coaches students in the discipline of contemporary music composition. Our aspiration for the composer workshops is to engage teenage students in the discovery of concepts, techniques, and skills underlying a wide array of contemporary music composition, introduce students to career opportunities in the music-creating industry and encourage students to create.
Our endorsement of your workshop provides assurance to music educators that your workshop has been vetted and is well suited for an educational environment and that it follows national music education standards. Approved workshops are endorsed by CSIC and added to the CSIC workshop catalog.
Teaching Artist Fees
If a youth music program selects your workshop through our website, you will be awarded a CSIC teaching artist fee to put on the workshop.
We do not actively sell your workshop, but we do promote it through our website with a link back to you. If a workshop is inquired about via our website, we will administer the workshop and ensure that you are paid teaching artist fees. An average workshop award is $200 for 2 hours of instruction.
How to Develop and Submit a Workshop
Complete and submit the workshop application. The application will guide you through the creation of a workshop. We will take your information and help you turn it into a teacher lesson plan. We anticipate that the development of a quality workshop will take you about four hours.
CSIC will email you an acceptance letter and a teacher lesson plan, which you post on your website with a link back to the CSIC homepage (see our workshop catalog for sample Cue Sheets).
